Established in 2011, the Department of Electrical Engineering, college of engineering Attingal offers program leading to Bachelor’s Degree. The four year undergraduate programme leads to the Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering. In addition to these regular programs, this department is also actively involved in conducting faculty development programmes, job-oriented short-term training programmes, continuing education programmes for engineering professionals and academic faculty. Graduates from the college will excel as technically competent Electrical Engineers. The department is always offering students projects with socially relevant subjects and completes it successfully. The projects like electric bike, solar PV Street light etc were attained great appreciation among the public through newspapers and social media. The laboratory facilities in the Department are well maintained and regularly updated. Members of the faculty are actively involved in sponsored research and consultancy works.

The faculties and students of Electrical department is actively involves in various activities like clubs & associations, consultancy works, electrical testing and maintenance etc. The department organizes a wide range of co-curricular activities to enhance the overall learning experience of students. The main activities include

• Workshops on LED light Manufacturing and Assembly

• Workshops on Electrical CAD with live projects

• Estimation and Scheduling of Electrical systems (MEP)

• Testing and maintenance of electrical equipment of Attingal Municipality

• Different consultancy works for hospitals, high-rise buildings etc.

Moreover, the department encourages and supports student projects by securing funding from research agencies like CERD and KSCSTE. The department is offering socially relevant students projects to keep students updated with conventional and emerging trends. Five day and one day Industrial visits to generating stations, substations etc. are also arranged to provide students with practical exposure to real-world industrial environments. Our department association, called 'Zeus' is actively conducting workshops, seminars, quiz, hands-on training etc. in every weekends to empower our students. The department also offers Honours and Minor degree programs to the students. As a result of our comprehensive approach, many of our graduates have secured placements in multinational companies, government sector jobs, and renowned universities both in India and abroad.

The department has well-furnished computer lab/Project lab with LCD projector and multimedia facility. All class rooms are smart class rooms with LCD projector. The important facilities in laboratories of the department:

Power system Lab -facilitates students to study in depth knowledge of transformer testing, oil testing, relay testing, earth resistance testing etc in hardware experiments and MATLAB, E-TAP in software simulation experiments.

Control system Lab –familiarize students with lag-lead networks, synchro transmitter receiver, seed control of DC servo motor & Stepper motor, PID controller etc.

Circuits and Measurements Lab – The students get trained in equipment like resistance and capacitance bridges, strain gauges, LVDT, Three phase and single-phase energy meters, thermocouple, lux meters etc.

Microprocessors & Microcontrollers Lab- 8085 & 8086 microprocessor trainer kits, 8051 microcontroller trainer kit, PIC, peripheral interface cards of stepper, ADC, Display and computers.

Electrical Machines Lab- The students get in depth knowledge in using DC series motor, shunt motor, compound motor, transformers, Squirrel cage Induction motor, slip ring induction motor, single phase induction motor, Motor-generator set, DC rectifier unit etc.

Electronic circuits Lab- for giving foundation practice to students enabling them to undergo advanced training in circuit design and equipped with function generators, DSO, simulation software, power supplies, multimeters etc.

Electrical workshop – to facilitate the students to have hands-on experience in real time wiring experiments like staircase wiring, hospital wiring, switch and socket wiring, Fluorescent lamp wiring, DB dressing, operation and maintenance of MCB, ELCB, RCCB etc.

Power electronics Lab - to facilitate the students to have hands-on experience with SCR, different SCR triggering circuits, UJT, MOSFET, IGBT, OPAMP, DC motor speed control using firing circuits etc.
