In May 1969, a conference of student representatives convened by the Ministry of Education and the University Grants Commission also unanimously agreed that a national-service scheme could be an instrument for national integration. The details were soon worked out and the Planning Commission sanctioned an outlay of ₹5 crores for the NSS during the Fourth Five-Year Plan, stipulating that the NSS be a pilot project in select institutions and universities. On 24 September 1969, the then Union Education Minister V.K.R.V. Rao launched the NSS at 37 universities in all states. The scheme has been extended to all states and universities in the country, and also +2 level institutes in many states.
There are 2 NSS units in College of Engineering Attingal and both units are very vibrant under the active leadership.







As a part of Environmental day volunteers conducted flash mob at IHRD Model finishing school,PMG .IHRD Director Dr. V A Arun kumar addressed the meeting .Awareness about protecting our trees and forest were given as the theme for the flash mob.
International Yoga Day (21-06-2025)
As part of conveying the importance of yoga to the society, poster competitions and awareness activities were organized under the leadership of the NSS Unit. There were many posters that explained the importance of yoga and its role in lifestyle and health.
Rudhirasena Campaign (16-07-2025)
With the message 'Blood donation is the greatest donation', NSS volunteers conducted an awareness campaign for blood donation. The importance of blood donation in society and the necessity of it were explained in detail.
NRPF Annual Meet Orientation (09/08/2025)
NRPF annual meet held in our college on 09/08/2025.Students from Trivandum district participated in the session.NRPF orientation sessions were conducted for the NSS volunteers to make them aware of the importance of protecting nature and its resources. The sustainability of nature and its necessity in human life were discussed in detail during these sessions.
With great enthusiasm and a spirit of prosperity, we celebrated Independence Day in our college. After the flag hoisting, various competitions were conducted, and sweets were distributed among the students, adding joy to the celebration.
With the message 'Blood donation is the greatest donation', NSS volunteers conducted an awareness campaign for blood donation. The importance of blood donation in society and the necessity of it were explained in detail. Volunteers donated blood nearly 50 students registered from our college.
Nattarangu Yuvajaagaran programme(16/09/2025)
KTU Care-for the old aged and disabled (20-10-2025) KTU Care is a dedicated cell that works for the welfare of the elderly, people with disabilities, and care institutions like old-age homes, and our volunteers actively participated in the session conducted by this cell.

We celebrated Gandhi Jayanthi in our college by organizing meaningful cleaning activities acrossthe campus. The program aimed to honour Gandhiji’s vision of cleanliness and promote a sense of responsibility among students.
We organized a Stem Cell Awareness Campaign to educate students about the importance of stem cell donation and its potential to save lives. The campaign aimed to encourage youth participation in creating a healthier and more informed society.

Our volunteers distributed Pothichoru to the residents of Karunalayam Institution, a home that shelters many individuals with disabilities, spreading kindness and care through this gesture.

Republic Day was celebrated in our college with great patriotism, including flag hoisting, cultural programs, and various competitions that showcased students' talents and celebrated the spirit of the nation.


A 7-day Special Camp was organized for NSS volunteers, focusing on community service, personality development, and social awareness. The camp included various activities such as cleaning drives, awareness sessions, and cultural programs, providing volunteers with a meaningful and enriching experience. All the NSS activities conducted this year gifted us with great experiences. It was shown that selfless service is the key for a society to transform and grow. This is only a beginning. Along with the NSS motto 'Not me but you', our journey towards bringing a positive change in society continues…!
The KTU–KCF “Swapnakoodu” Project, implemented under the guidance of the KTU NSS Unit, aims to provide homes for homeless and economically weaker sections of society.As part of this initiative, the NSS unit identified a deserving beneficiary near our college. The KTU NSS Coordinator encouraged our unit to undertake this noble project.With the help of our NSS volunteers this project completed
